Digital Justice and Surveillance

On Monday, February 22nd, Hector Dominguez, of Smart City PDX, gave a presentation to Portland’s Techno-Activism 3rd Mondays about the City of Portland’s efforts towards achieving digital justice in Portland and rethinking surveillance. At the meeting, he explained how Smart City PDX is working to both define digital justice and to include that definition in the City Code.

He also discussed the impacts of surveillance on various communities, how City agencies can address those effects via a new privacy-focused team structure and by implementing Privacy Impact Assessments (PIAs).
